LAN Administrator Senior on GSA STARS II Small Business IDIQ under general direction, responsible for administration and day-to-day operation of organization?s local area network (LAN). Provides integrated team support and maintenance of LAN hardware and software. Maintains integrity of the LAN hardware and software. Installs LAN software upgrades, including planning and scheduling, testing and coordination. Studies vendor products to determine those which best meet organization needs; assists in presentation of information to management resulting in purchase, and installation of hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment. Performs LAN security procedures, including implementing login requests. Evaluates new products and technologies to determine impact on existing system configurations. Prepares proposals, cot/benefit analyses, and feasibility studies. Provides liaison support between the PC/LAN team, vendors and internal support group as needed. Typically requires five to seven years of experience. Frequently reports to an information systems executive.

LAN Administrator Senior on GSA STARS II Small Business IDIQ installs, configures, maintains and monitors the local area network (LAN) of an organization. They are also responsible for troubleshooting complex LAN problems, as well as supervising and training personnel and end-users on LAN operations, troubleshooting and maintenance. Maintain local area network security and ensure that security procedures are implemented. Manage LAN backup system to ensure the reliable restoration of network data and network-based applications after a disaster. Have degrees in Network Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information systems and other related fields of study. Have extensive knowledge of relational database theory, database administration, data modeling, data analysis, database design, repository creation, data architecture, data warehouse modeling, database management reporting, business management, management engineering, systems engineering, operations research, and so on. Possess professional network certifications like Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), A+, Network+, CCNA, MCSE, and so on. Have working knowledge of operating systems, Windows or Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Internet Information Services, Windows Server, Linux, Unix, as well as Microsoft Office suite applications. Proficient in LAN/WAN systems, LAN/WAN environments, LAN/WAN connections, and LAN/WAN network components, including Firewalls, Routers, and other networking products and devices. Test or supervise the testing of local area networks for weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Model and analyze networks and monitor network hardware and software coordination. Troubleshoot basic and complex LAN problems, including network system devices and hardware. Implement local area network polices and standards in line with organizational or household goals. Responsible for decision making on the purchases and installation of all network software and hardware tools. Study vendor products to determine those that best meet organization’s needs, evaluate new products and technologies to determine impact on existing system configurations. Maintain and secure the licensing information for hardware and software purchases for audit compliance and compliance with software vendors’ end-user licensing agreements. Oversee the day-to-day operation of local area networks and maintains the integrity of the LAN hardware and software equipment. Provide liaison support between the PC/LAN team, vendors, and internal support group as needed.
