 LAN WAN Administrator on GSA STARS II Small Business IDIQ monitors LAN, WAN, and servers. Provides batch monitoring, tape back-up, and restoration. Administers mail system and implements new database architecture. Monitors and conducts performance evaluation of networks. Supports, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots all local area and wide area networking devices and related software for branch offices and internal and external networks.

LAN WAN Administrator on GSA STARS II Small Business IDIQ assists in the design and implementation of LAN and WAN network infrastructures and systems for both local area and wide area networking devices and software. They create and update user permissions for network end-users. Evaluate and monitor network performance, connectivity and network security, and find quick and lasting solutions to all LAN, WAN, and Server performance problems. Ensure that LAN/WAN network services operate based on industry and government standards and policies. Set up network workstations, access protocols, security protocols, and consult with end-users and management. Responsible for identifying system requirements, installing network upgrades as well as maintaining and monitoring network operations and efficiency for organizations. Have degrees in Network Administration, Information Technology, Information Services, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, and other related fields. Have extensive knowledge of relational database theory, database administration, data modeling, data analysis, database design, repository creation, data architecture, data warehouse modeling, database management reporting, business management, management engineering, systems engineering, operations research, and so on. May have certifications like Security+(CE), CISSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CCNA or CCNP Routing and Switching. Skilled in the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of VLANs, the operation of LAN/WAN-related network services, LAN/WAN performance connectivity, wired or wireless network infrastructure, network protocols including TCP/IP, and so on. Have verifiable knowledge and experience managing distributed networks, network protocols, routers and switches. Experienced in LAN/WAN environment management, LAN/WAN administration, LAN/WAN performance tuning, LAN/WAN software and hardware maintenance, and have strong LAN/WAN network diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Evaluate and review network security and recommend security solutions and software upgrades to ensure that the network is secure. Create and update LAN/WAN monitoring reports, troubleshooting reports and equipment logs. Stay abreast of knowledge of emerging and current network standards and regulations and ensure the compliance of the client’s network to those standards. Integrate network solutions with technical implementation plans that include the action to be taken, the timeline, budget and critical paths that need to be taken to achieve complete solutions. Support, maintain and troubleshoot the operation of wireless and wired networks.
